Where it all started
The Pet Experience pet shop in Weymouth was established in 2007. We started off in a small commercial unit on the Granby Industrial Estate. In the years that followed business steadily grew. After 2 years of trading, more space was needed. By some good fortune the premises next door became vacant. As a result it was a simple case of knocking through the wall to more than double the shop size.
Fast forward another 7 years and it was again time to find bigger premises. However this time, expanding wasn’t an option. Therefore it became time to leave the Granby Estate. We moved down the road to the newly built Link Park Trading Estate. Bigger and brighter premises awaited! It is here that you will find The Pet Experience today at E1 Link Park, Chickerell, Weymouth, Dorset, DT3 4FL.

As the founder and owner, Cormac has been running The Pet Experience since 2007.
Over the years he has been a proud pet parent to numerous dogs, cats, bunnies, guineas and hamster as well as goldfish!
Cormac loves nothing more than talking to customers about their pets. Helping them to select the best food/treats to keep their pets healthy and happy is the most satisfying feeling!

Bev began working in the pet industry in 1998 at All Pets in Wyke Regis. In 2018 she joined The Pet Experience team. Since then, Bev has completed numerous nutritional courses and training programmes on all aspects of pet nutrition and welfare.
The best part of working at The Pet Experience for Bev is getting great feedback from customers when they have followed our advice and recommendations and their pet’s health has improved. And of course getting to fuss lots of pets when they visit the shop!
Bev’s cat Marnie is fed on Teepee Hydrolysed Gastrointestinal dry food. She also loves her daily Canagan tins and pouches!
Megan joined The Pet Experience in 2021 after previous positions in retail. Since joining the team, Megan has accrued huge amounts of nutritional and product knowledge.
For Megan, ‘feeling the level of trust people place in us is super rewarding and doesn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated!’ She loves to hear the good news & success stories from customers that originally came to us with a health problem they were struggling to get on top of. By following our advice & recommendations these problems can often be effectively managed and even resolved.
Megan also loves fussing over all the lovely pets that come into the shop. Though she particularly likes it when those pets love her more than Bev or Cormac! 😂
Megan’s cat Poppy loves her Teepee Connoisseur Cat biscuits and is also a big fan of her Canagan tinned food!

In order to combine high quality with great prices, we launched Easterbrooks in 2009. Easterbrooks is our own-brand of Super-Premium Hypo-allergenic pet food for dogs and cats. It has grown over the years to be one of the most popular foods we sell in both our pet shop in Weymouth and nationwide via our online shop.
In 2016 Teepee Grain Free pet food was added to the range to provide a top quality, high meat content and steam cooked dry food. In 2025 we launched Teepee Hydrolysed dog food. This followed in 2026 with Teepee hydrolysed cat food. Nationwide delivery is free of charge for orders over £30.

It’s not just Easterbrooks and Teepee pet food that we sell though! As a specialist, independent nutrition centre, we stock a wide range of hypo-allergenic pet foods. Our experienced and knowledgeable staff will help you choose the right food for your pet. In addition, we have strict criteria on what qualifies to sit on our shelves and be taken home by you. As a result we have built a strong reputation based on our product knowledge and sound nutritional advice.
All of the foods we stock are very similar in some aspects, yet they’re all unique in their own way. They are similar as they are all hypo-allergenic foods. This means that there is a lower risk of a negative food reaction. High palatability (taste), high digestibility and low residue (poo).
They are different as some are high protein, some are low protein. Some are grain free, some high fibre etc. Every animal is different. Part of finding the right diet for your pet is understanding and working with this. Just because it worked for your previous pet doesn’t mean it will work for your current/new one.

Nutritional Guidance
Pet products and accessories, particularly food/nutrition can be a minefield. Pet shops across the country offer a wide range of choice. Many people think that pet food is pet food…it’s all the same. Unfortunately this is not the case. The differences between the various options available is enormous. The impact of giving your pet the wrong type of food can be very serious. Allergic reactions and food intolerances are commonplace.
Ingredients
Often these reactions are caused by foods that use poor quality or mixed ingredients. Look out for words like ‘Cereals’ or the phrase ‘meat and animal derivatives’. These headings cover many different ingredients such as wheat and random, mixed proteins. As a result of these vague ingredient listings, you have no idea as to the exact make up of the food. Therefore you cannot avoid specific ingredients that you know may cause problems in your pet.
In addition, these foods are not a fixed-formula. They contain ingredients that can vary from one production batch to another. People often find that the food they have been feeding for many weeks with no adverse reactions can suddenly start causing problems. For instance, unexplained diarrhoea, vomiting, skin irritation or behavioural issues. These can often be a reaction to ingredients changing in a pet food, unbeknownst to the owner.
Using Nutrition to Support Health and Wellbeing
Determining an allergy or an intolerance is the first step. Managing it is next. However with the right diet, this need not be a problem. People often accept a poor, lack lustre coat as ‘part of their pet growing old’. The development of eczema or poor dental condition is often dealt with as a symptom instead of effectively dealing with the potential cause of the problem. We are here to help you make the right decision when it comes to nutrition (or any other pet related matter). A decision based on knowledge and experience, not on flashy television advertising!
We can talk you through ingredients, explaining the pros and cons of each. After all, what’s good for one pet may not necessarily be good for yours.
