Sterilised/Neutered Dry Cat Food

Sterilisation or neutering (also called spaying or castration) is generally recommended for cats. This is to reduce the risk of unwanted litters. However, sterilisation can be a risk factor for obesity as it leads to increased appetite combined with a reduced calorie requirement and activity levels. Essentially, your cat gets greedier but needs less food! This is where sterilised/neutered dry cat food comes in!

Teepee Duck and Sardine dry cat food is hypoallergenic, complete and grain free. It is specifically formulated to meet the nutritional requirements of sterilised cats. Teepee Connoisseur Cat has been developed to provide a 70% meat content diet that is well suited to cats that are obligate carnivores. Our Duck and Sardine sterilised or neutered dry cat food uses a mix of duck and fish proteins to provide a tasty and highly digestible diet.

Furthermore, of that 70%, there is a high fresh-meat inclusion which ensures maximum aroma and taste to satisfy even the fussiest feline!

A 2021 study by the University of Exeter found that cats fed a higher meat content diet were less likely to hunt small animals. This reduction in hunting was further supported by increased play and interaction with the cat owner. As a result, their natural urge to hunt is satisfied.

Health Management in Sterilised Cats

Sterilised or neutered cats are at a greater risk of putting on excess weight. This can lead to further health issues such as diabetes, heart problems and joint trouble. In order to combat these, Teepee Connoisseur Cat uses controlled levels of fat combined with higher levels of fibre.

Moreover, L-Carnitine is added to help burn fat reserves as a source of energy. In doing so, fat levels are managed more effectively.

Sterilised cats are also more prone to hairballs as a result of hormonal changes in their body. Beet pulp and cellulose have been added to Teepee Connoisseur dry cat food to support the reduction of hairballs. But it is not just weight gain and hairballs that can affect sterilised cats.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are more common in sterilised cats as evidenced in a large study involving over 22,000 cats. Teepee is formulated to maintain an optimal urine pH range to combat UTIs. Furthermore, cranberry extract is added to promote urinary tract health.
